What is Phlebotomy Training?

Programs which are accredited by the ASPT (American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians) train phlebotomy technicians in these fundamental procedures. Safety standards, basic anatomy, as well as other important skills of the profession are taught. A minimum of 90 hours of basic medical theory and 120 hours of hands on training in a clinical setting is required by accredited schools for certification programs. This certification qualifies technicians to work at most general health care facilities. For students who would like higher earning potential and greater medical flexibility, there are two year associate degree programs which expand venipuncture as well as other medical sciences.
